Small Groups

Where Church gets real

The Church is the people, whenever and wherever we are. It is a people in community beyond organizational, geographic, and civic borders. You are invited to experience and be a part of this community. All are welcome!

It can be difficult to connect through our weekend gatherings whether you attend onsite or online. Small groups provide an opportunity for deeper connection and trust within our community beyond the boundaries of our building, budget, or brand. Our desire is for you to share in this experience wherever you live and whatever local congregation you call home.

New Hope Hosted

We host small groups throughout the year both in-person and online. Hosts may be pastors or other trusted individuals from our local congregation.

Personal (DIY)

You are welcome to host your own small group using the topics and materials that we make available. This is a popular option for families and friends to better connect and grow together.

Partnerships

We also welcome partnerships with other congregations as we desire deeper connection and trust beyond our local congregation. Your congregation is welcome to use our published materials with respect to applicable copyrights.

In-Person Small Groups

Small group gatherings may be in-person at our church facility located in Aptos, CA, in homes, or at other locations. This is a popular option and fosters more natural and fluid conversations.

In-person small groups sponsored by New Hope will follow guidance regarding local emergencies and other public health crises.

Online Small Groups

Online options are available for small groups as well. Each host has the option to use any of the many popular tools available like Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, FaceTime, and more. This option is great for those who for whatever reason might not have access to a small group due to distance or disability.

Formats

Studies

Study groups work through a series of live or video-based teachings on Biblical or theological topics with review and discussion of the learnings and possible applications.

Book Clubs

Book club groups read through a book together and gather to review and discuss the latest section read including observations, learnings, and possible applications.

Devotionals

Devotional groups are formed to read and reflect on the Scriptures together. Each devotion includes the readings, devotional thoughts, and open-ended questions for group discussion.

Service

Service small groups gather to serve the community through volunteerism. These are not marketing or recruitment efforts, but rather shared sacrifice for the well-being of our shared community.

Current and Coming Soon

Our small groups are intentionally scheduled to allow for rest and encourage healthy rhythms in life. This is why we include breaks between topics in our formal schedule. Small groups may continue to meet between topics if they choose.
