We like stories of heroes triumphing over the villains; to stop their advances and crushing their ability to thrive again, let alone survive. We often admire the one who “tells it like it is” to our adversaries and enjoy the entertainment of name calling and humiliation. We harbor resentments and bitterness towards our political, economic, and military competitors. Yet none of this is what love does.

Who do we believe we are allowed to dishonor? How do we dishonor them and how do we justify it?
What are some ways we serve our self-interest to the detriment of another, such as taking their lives or their livelihoods?
Are we as a church seen as easily angered by those within the church? Outside the church? Who follow us on social media?
What grudges do we hold both personally and as a church? Do we hold grudges against other churches or denominations?
What might our church look like if we embraced and embodied this?
