In this chapter, author Dan Kimball, clearly states the premise for this book and his motivation for writing it. There are many stories, claims, and instructions that are confusing, concerning, or even both. From the lifespans of ancient humans to violence against innocents, any honest reading of the text will expose these to the reader. In writing this book, Pastor Kimball desires that we may gain some tools and techniques for addressing these troubling texts without resigning ourselves to uncritical acceptance or rejection.
